I interviewed some students and found some concerns they had with online classes. They wanted a "College" experience and did not want to miss out on making friends and study groups. The idea with this series of on-campus advertising was to inspire the students into integrating online classes into their first year. I also wanted to test how effective the advertising digital displays were on campus. I created a page on the Distance Ed web site that could only be accessed by typing in the URL provided on the ad. The main ad ran just for three weeks and the shorter "teaser" ran for two. After checking the analytics I was surprised to see the results were positive. Some displays on campus are vertical with no sound. The UVU Institutional Research Board asked for a lighthearted video that was informational and funny. Scott Wilson came up with a concept of a research roadshow (a la Antique Roadshow) where student could come and have their research papers approved by the IRB. I got to work with professional actors and was given a long list of job responsibilities. I quickly learned how different film production was from print design production. The whole experience was amazing and made me aware of how talented Instructional Creative Services is. I created the set design and in post production worked with my editor, Adam Sanders on the motion graphics. I also ran slate which, in my opinion, is everyone's dream role.
